Police say an Albuquerque woman is getting mental health treatment after officers stopped her from jumping off an overpass. It’s the second time something like this happened this week in Albuquerque. The Albuquerque Police Department posted a video showing a woman that was threatening to jump off the Paseo Del Norte overpass near Jefferson. It happened around 5 p.m. on Wednesday as people were driving home from work.
Police say officer John Cervantes was talking to the woman and trying to calm her down. After about 10 minutes, they say the woman bolted from her car and threw herself over the road’s concrete barrier. But just as she was about to jump, the officer grabbed her and pulled her to safety. Officer Brandi Madrid, who helped save a man attempting to jump from the Wyoming overpass on Sunday, was also on the scene to help.
