Dallas, TX - On March 29, 2016, at about 7:30 a.m., a 24-year-old mother arrived at a day care
center at 3939 S. Polk Street to drop off her four year old son. The mother left her eight year old daughter in the car, and left the engine running, while she carried her four year old inside. While the mother was inside the suspect climbed into the car, with the eight year old seated behind the driver seat, and drove off.
The mother observed the suspect enter the car and ran outside to intervene. As the suspect drove off, the mother climbed onto the trunk of the car. The suspect exited the parking lot and turned onto the northbound lanes of the Marvin D. Love Freeway service road. The suspect continued driving northbound on the service road to S. Polk Street where the 8-year-old victim leapt from the car, onto the asphalt causing minor injury to the palms of her hands and her knees.
The mother remained on the trunk of the car as the suspect turned right on Polk Street and continued driving. The suspect pulled into a business parking lot at 1100 E. Ledbetter and stopped. The suspect exited the vehicle and assaulted the mother while demanding money. The mother surrendered her cash and the suspect fled on foot. The mother suffered serious injury described as road rash to her legs.
The suspect is described as a Black male, 20-25 years old, 5’ 5” in height, wearing a gray hoodie with the hood pulled over his head, and dark jeans.
