The video shows a Troutdale officer trying to stop a woman for a minor traffic violation near SE 242nd Drive and Stark Street. However, she took off.
As it turns out, "While the officer was waiting for the vehicle to come to a stop," the city of Troutdale reported, "the officer checked the registration and found the vehicle to be stolen."
The woman can be seen speeding the green Ford Taurus toward the Stark Street Bridge. In the middle of the bridge she gets out of the still-moving vehicle -- and jumps into the frigid Sandy River.
The vehicle came to a stop after rolling into the side of the bridge. Crews eventually were able to pull the woman -- alive -- out of the water.
Troutdale authorities have identified the driver as 26-year-old Rebecca Humphries. She was taken to the hospital Wednesday for injuries suffered during the attempted escape. The city described those injuries as "minor."
