Amid the media coverage of the deadliest mass shooting in American history in Orlando, lost in the shuffle was the other terrorist who targeted an LGBT pride festival on the other side of the country.
On Sunday, police in Santa Monica, California arrested 20-year-old James Howell of Indiana after a citizen reported a car containing explosives.
Police stopped Howell and found a cache of weapons and explosives in his Acura.
Howell reportedly had three rifles – including one “assault” rifle, a stash of ammo, and a five-gallon bucket of materials used to create explosives.
Howell also had a camouflage suit and a security badge.
Police say the suspect admitted he wanted to “harm the Gay Pride event.”
Neighbors reportedly called the police after spotting Howell knocking on doors and “loitering in the area.”
Police say there is no connection between Howell and the attack on a Gay club in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in American history.
